How do I configure a gift certificate type?

There are various settings available when creating a gift card type. Many of these settings can later be manually adjusted on the individual gift card once it has been created. It's good to know that gift cards can be created in two different ways.

- From the admin panel, via Modules – Gift Cards – Add Gift Card Type. Here you can configure several options when setting up the gift cards.

- This gift card type can then be offered on the customer pages (via Modules – Gift Cards). In this case, gift cards are automatically generated based on the general settings of the gift card type. See also: How do I create a gift card?

The most important settings for the gift card type are the price, the product to which the gift card applies, and its validity period. The price determines the amount for which the gift card is sold on the customer pages. It is possible to make a gift card valid for a single product or for all products. Additionally, various parameters can be defined to control the format and content of the generated gift card codes.

With the price type setting, you can determine whether the options in a reservation are included in the price calculation of a gift card. This allows, for example, excluding additional options like lunch from the discount provided by the gift card. There are also several options available to require a username when purchasing a gift card via the customer pages. Linking the gift card to a template makes it possible to print the gift card or send it as a PDF attachment in an email message.
