When using sub-objects, a reservation may contain two booking numbers. One for the main object and one for the sub object. This is called a parent-child booking. When an (arbitrary) automatic dividing method (which determines which sub object needs to be booked) is in use, it is possible use a parent-child reservation and work with a single reservation number.

Settings

There are a number of criteria applicable to work with a single reservation number for bookings on sub objects;

  1. An object has sub objects.
  2. Bookings are made on main objects.
  3. The 'Maximum number per booking' is set to 1
  4. A dividing method has been selected

When these criteria are met, there will always be only one booking made. This will not be done on the main object, but on one of the sub objects. Therefore there will only be one reservation number. When all slots of all sub objects are booked, the main object will no longer be bookable.

Often, when handling parent-/child bookings, a workflow is used where emails are only sent for either the parent or the child. When a single reservation number is created, these emails must be sent for both the parent and the child booking.
