This section only applies if the module SMS is active.

From i-Reserve, it is possible to send SMS messages to the customer. For example, you can send a confirmation to the customer’s mobile phone. You can also send a reminder exactly one day before the reservation takes place. This page explains how to configure and modify these settings.

What is needed to send an SMS to the customer?

To include SMS sending in the workflow, certain settings need to be configured. You must create a template (SMS message) and configure an SMS transition so the correct message is sent automatically at the right time.

Create an SMS message

Go to Configuration - Templates - Templates to create an SMS template. Click +Add new template and select the type SMS. Then, provide a title in the Template name field. The context determines which variables are available on the right side to include in your message. Note: using special characters may incur extra charges.

Create an SMS transition

Using SMS templates and linking them to status transitions is almost identical to working with email templates. Email or SMS transitions determine which message is sent, when, and to whom. These transitions are configured per object or arrangement and must be set for each available object or arrangement.

Go to Configuration - Objects - Manage products, then click the Workflow button for the relevant product. The dashboard opens and the SMS Status block becomes visible. You can add multiple SMS transitions to the SMS Status block. Each SMS becomes a separate row. To add a row, click the + icon. This icon appears when you hover your mouse over the dark grey bar of the block. Clicking it opens a popup with the settings below.

Field Explanation Example 1
Old status transition The status the booking had before the status change.
New status transition The new status the booking gets after the change. The SMS is sent upon reaching this status.
SMS to Set to Customer if the SMS should be sent to the customer. This only works if a mobile number is provided in the customer's details. You can also choose to send it to the participants or both.
Copy to BCC Set to Yes if the SMS should also be sent to the SMS BCC address. This only works if a mobile number is set in the SMS BCC address field of the SMS Status block.
Valid for Depending on the structure used, a booking may have multiple reservation numbers. This setting determines whether the SMS is sent to all reservations or just the parent reservation.
Template Select the message (template) to be sent.

Edit an SMS transition

In the Automatic transitions block, hover over a row and a pencil icon will appear in the Action column. Click it to open the Edit automatic transition window. After editing, click Save.

Delete an SMS transition

Each row in the Automatic transitions block represents a separate transition. Hover over a row to reveal a trash can icon in the Action column. Click it to permanently delete the transition from the system.
