Do I need an SSL certificate for i-Reserve

As a service, we provide i-Reserve by default with an SSL certificate (privacy by default). So, you don’t need to purchase an SSL certificate yourself as long as you're using a standard i-Reserve domain, for example: yourdomainname.i-reserve.net or yourdomainname.i-reserve.nl.

When i-Reserve is implemented on a custom domain, such as yourdomainname.reservations.nl or yourdomainname.nl/reservations/, you will need your own SSL certificate. You cannot use the i-Reserve SSL certificate in this case because it is specifically linked to the i-reserve domain.

Why should you purchase an SSL certificate?
An SSL certificate confirms the authenticity of a website and provides information about the certificate holder. It ensures security and supports SEO performance. When a secure connection is used, the data transmitted to and from the booking interface cannot be intercepted or altered by third parties.

In addition, secure websites are rewarded by search engines with higher rankings. Since June 2018, newer browser versions display a (red) warning icon for non-secure sites. This can be a reason for potential visitors to abandon the site.
