How do I create a discount coupon?
A discount voucher is a variation of a gift voucher, where a discount percentage is applied instead of a price. A discount voucher can be reusable, meaning multiple people can use the voucher.
To create a discount voucher, you can follow the steps for creating a ‘normal’ gift voucher. In this case, set the "Reusable" field to "Yes". This means that only one code needs to be created.
Often, a discount voucher works with a percentage, but it is of course also possible to work with a fixed price.
To generate a promotional discount code, follow these steps:
1. While logged into the backend, click on menu Modules > Manage gift vouchers
2. Click the blue (right) button ‘Add gift voucher’
3. In the next screen, fill in the fields as follows:
Always set:
- Number of codes to create: 1
- Gift voucher type: ‘Promotion – discount’
- Reusable: yes (this means the code can be used by multiple customers)
- Blocked: no
- Additionally important:
- Validity period: choose the period for which this promotion is valid
- Percentage: e.g., 10 (stands for 10% discount). Instead of the percentage field, you can also fill in the price field. In that case, a fixed amount, e.g., 10 (stands for €10), will be applied as a discount when making a booking.
By default, do not use the Product and Arrangement fields!
4. Click the blue 'Save' button
5. The overview of all gift vouchers will appear, with the newly created promotion discount at the top
6. Click the ID to open the promotion discount
7. If you wish, you can change the automatically generated code to one that is easier to communicate to your target audience. Click in the ‘Gift voucher details’ block in the ‘Code’ field and change it to the desired code, e.g., SpringPromo
8. Click the checkmark to save the new code
9. You can now launch the promotion by mentioning the code in an advertisement or in a mailing to a specific group of customers.
