What is a gift certificate?

Gift certificates can be used in various ways within i-Reserve. For example, it is possible to let customers purchase a gift certificate to give to someone else. Gift certificates can be used to allow customers to take advantage of a discount. Gift certificates can also be created by an organization and distributed to existing or new customers to promote a service. It is also possible to use gift certificates as a voucher, for example if a customer has paid in advance and a reservation is cancelled.

Before gift certificates can be created, a gift certificate type must first be set up. When setting up a gift certificate type, the generic properties of the gift certificate are set, such as the validity period and the price. The moment a gift certificate is created based on a gift certificate type, i-Reserve generates a unique code that can be entered when making a reservation.
