What is a holiday?
A holiday is a day on which customers cannot book any of the products through the online booking pages. The day is closed online for all products at once — useful for public holidays or a collective closing day, for example.
Closed online, not for the administrator
A holiday only blocks online availability. An administrator with the Override booking on a holiday right (action_booking_override_holiday) can still create individual bookings on that day in the admin environment. When creating or editing a booking a notice then appears that the date is a holiday, with the option to push the booking through anyway.
Prices still apply
The pricing schedule keeps running on a holiday. This only matters when an administrator pushes a booking through on a holiday: that booking then gets the normal price according to the regular schedule. A holiday therefore does not zero out the price.
Recurring and additional bookings
When you create a series — for example via Create additional booking(s) or via Number of weeks — weeks that fall on a holiday are skipped. In the list those rows are marked as Holiday without a checkbox; they are not created as bookings.
Example. A weekly booking starting on 5 July would normally repeat every week. If the weeks of 29 July, 5 August and 12 August fall on holidays, those three weeks are skipped and the series continues on 23 and 30 August. If you do want to book on a holiday, you can do so as an individual booking using the override right.
Closing a single product instead of everything
If you do not want to close all products but only one product on a specific date, do not use a holiday but the opening-times schedule with the calendar. That lets you close the opening times of a specific product on the desired date, while the other products remain bookable.
