Create a new lesson type
Does your organization offer classes? Then this guide is for you. There are countless types of classes to consider, but it all starts with creating a so-called class type.
A class type is an overarching object under which different classes fall. A good example is the class type “Fitness”. Under this, you could create classes such as “Zumba”, “Spinning”, and “Bodypump”.
A class type can only be created by an administrator. To create a class type, go to Objects > Manage products. On this page, you will find a button in the top right corner labeled “Add new product”.
Give the new class type a unique name and a description. Then indicate that the new class type concerns the option “Standard course type based on activity mode. Courses are usually scheduled for multiple participants.”
Enter a default price; this will not be used for the classes themselves. A price can be specified manually for each individual class.
Specify which participants can book a class. Depending on the industry and class, you can, for example, choose from “Persons”, “Adults”, “Children aged 16 and above”, “Children under 16”, “Students”, “Dogs”, “Toddlers”, “Babies”, etc.
Also, for each participant type, indicate the minimum, maximum, and total number of participants allowed per reservation. This is separate from the total number for the class itself and only applies to the reservation being made.
For example, a reservation may require at least 1 adult and allow a maximum of 3 children. In total, the class may allow up to 25 participants, spread across multiple reservations.
The options “counts towards availability” and “conversion” affect the number of booked spots in a class. For instance, if there are 25 spots and you want to track the number of attendees but babies attend for free, then the participant type “Babies” does not count towards availability.
In some cases, people in a wheelchair may take up multiple spots, reducing the number of seats available in the room. The conversion for a wheelchair user could therefore be set to 2, meaning 2 out of the 25 spots are automatically booked.
Save the information to complete the creation of a class type.
It is now possible to create classes under this class type.
