What happens to old links when I change the alias of a page?
If you give a page a different address (alias), the old address keeps working. i-Reserve automatically creates a permanent redirect (301) from the old to the new address. You find it in Configuration > Customer page > Content pages > Redirects, with the page number as its description.
What happens automatically
- The old address keeps working: if you rename
tourtotours, thentoursends visitors on totours. - No chains: redirects that already pointed to the old address now point directly to the new one.
- Renaming back: if you set the page back to the old address, the redirect on that address disappears. The address is simply the page again.
- Links in your own menus and content: you can have those updated right away when you rename. The redirect is for links outside i-Reserve, such as your own website, emails and search engines.
Terms and conditions
When you upload a new version of the terms and conditions, the old file is removed. Old links to that file, for example in confirmation emails sent earlier, automatically send visitors on to the terms that apply now, in their own language when that version exists.
