Functional description

Many detail screens in i-Reserve are built up from blocks. Each block shows one specific part – for example the customer details or the payments of a reservation. The set of blocks on a screen is called a dashboard. This page explains the concepts and the functions that apply to (almost) every block; the individual block pages only describe what differs per block.

Contexts

Every detail screen belongs to a context: the type of data the screen is about. Examples are reservation, customer, invoice, activity, product, order, gift voucher, punch card, company, resource, product group, franchise, VAT rate, discount rule, combination package and subscription. There is also a general context for the start dashboard. Each context has its own set of available blocks; some blocks (such as statistics, filter and favourites blocks) can be used in several contexts.

Dashboards

Per context you can set up one or more dashboards, each with its own arrangement of blocks. Managing dashboards requires the dashboard_manage right. You can add a dashboard, copy it (dashboard_copy), rename it, delete it (dashboard_delete), set it as the default, define display rules (when a dashboard is shown automatically) and share a dashboard with other users or roles.

Placing blocks

Through Manage blocks you open a visual grid. You drag blocks to the desired position, adjust their width across multiple columns, add separator lines and remove blocks. Mandatory blocks are fixed and cannot be removed. Some blocks may appear more than once on the same dashboard.

The block menu

In the top-right corner of (almost) every block there is a gear menu with recurring functions:

  • Refresh – reloads only the content of the block, without refreshing the whole page.
  • Colour – choose a background colour for the block’s title bar. Requires the dashboard_editcolor right.
  • Settings – block-specific settings, if the block has any. Requires the dashboard_editsettings right.
  • Restore default settings – resets the block’s settings to their default values. Requires the dashboard_blocksettings_default right.

These functions are not repeated on the individual block pages.
