Creating a new course
A course within i-Reserve always falls under a so-called course type. For example, a first aid course “Resuscitation and AED” falls under the course type “First Aid”. Before a course can be created, an administrator must first create a course type.
Once a course type exists, courses can be created.
A new course can be created in three ways:
- Via the menu
- Via the filter overview
- Via the schedule
The basics are the same in all three cases. Creating a course via the schedule can be done in a simple or advanced way. Advanced means that there are more input fields available when creating a course, and these are also discussed in the normal step-by-step guide. Creating a course via the schedule in the simple way is discussed separately.
This step-by-step guide explains how to create a new course via the menu or from the filter overview.
From the menu, click on 'Course' and then on 'New course'. To create a course from the filter overview, click on 'Course' in the menu, after which you will enter the filter overview. In the top right corner, you will find a 'New course' button.
Select the course type under which the course will fall.
Select the date, start time, and end time for when the course will take place. Then specify how many participants are allowed to join the course.
Provide a description for the course. When the booking dialog is multilingual, a translation can be provided by using the icon behind the input field. The same applies to the extended description and the memo. These elements can (depending on the configuration) also be displayed in the booking dialog.
Check whether the course is allowed to take place. For example, two courses of the same course type cannot take place on the same date with overlapping times. If this is not the case, the course can be saved.
After saving the course, the course dashboard is displayed. Here, the price per participant can be set.
The status of the course is now set by default to “10-New”. With this status, the course is not yet visible in the booking dialog. The status of the course can be changed in the action block using the option “Change course status”. When changing the status, it is immediately visible whether, for example, it is possible to register for the course via the booking dialog. By default, this is status 20-Open.
This means the course has been created and can be booked by your customers.
When a course consists of multiple sessions, it is also possible to create a recurring course.
