How do I create a new user?
In i-Reserve a distinction is made between two types of users.
- Users that can login via the front-end
- Users that can login via the back-end
Users that can login via the front-end
As administrator you would create a front-end user when the user/customer is not able to create one for themselves via the front-end; or perhaps you may want to offer the service of creating all the user accounts for your customers. In practice these front-end users are not incorporated into a user group but in exception it is occasionally required that they are linked to a group with no rights. A front-end user is always coupled with the customer that it belongs to.
With the button ‘Add User’ you can set parameters such as username, e-mail and password. The e-mail address is important when the user is linked to a customer. This allows for supple client-customer communication. For example when a user forgets their password a new one can be generated and sent directly. The ‘Add User’ button can be accessed when you are in configuration mode under ‘System – Users’. Alternatively it can be accessed from within the dashboard of a customer in the settings icon of the ‘User Details’ block.
A user in the back-end always has a parent user assigned to their account. This is almost always the administrator of the back-end user account. This is not the case for a front-end user, which has no parent user assigned to it.
Users that can login via the back-end
You would create a user in the back-end in order to give the user access to i-Reserve. To be able to actually access the application, this user must be linked to a user group with permissions.
