How do I change the columns of a filter?
Every overview in i-Reserve is a filter, and a filter shows its results in columns. Which columns appear, and in what order, is up to you: you set it in a view — a saved set of columns with its own name and sort order. If information seems to be missing from an overview, in nearly every case only the column is missing from the view — the data itself is there.
Adding or removing columns
- Open the overview you want to change, for example Booking > Search or Modules > Payments.
- In the toolbar, click Views and choose Edit.
- Click Add view. A new row appears in the table. To use an existing view as a starting point without overwriting it, copy it first using the copy icon in the Action column.
- Click the icon in the Name column and give the view a recognisable name, for example “Accounting payments”. Click outside the text field to store the name.
- Click the Columns column. Two panes appear: available columns on the left, selected columns on the right. Double-click a column or drag it to the right to add it; drag it back to the left to remove it. The search box at the top helps in contexts with hundreds of columns.
- Put the columns on the right in the order you want to see them. That order is also the column order in an export to Excel.
- Click Save. You return to the list of views.
- In the toolbar, click Views again and select your new view. The columns in the overview change immediately.
Sorting and colours
In the same table, Sort column sets the column the overview sorts on by default, ascending or descending. In the Colours column you use add rule to create colour rules based on product, status or customer. The Action column lets you copy, delete or directly apply a view.
Fixing a view to a saved filter
Once you have saved a filter, you can attach a default view to it so the right columns are ready straight away. Click Show filter list at the top left: in the list of saved filters, use the View column to state which view belongs to each filter.
I cannot see the Views button
Working with views is a right. Selecting views requires filter_show_views, adding or editing them requires filter_manage_views. If you are not an administrator yourself, ask your administrator to grant these rights to your user group.
Finding the technical name of a column
In the column selection screen, hover over a column and its technical name appears, for example PAY_AMOUNT. Use that name to look the column up under Filter columns, which lists the field type, the permitted search operators and the possible values for each column.
Searching rather than displaying? Columns decide what you see of each row; which rows you get is set by search criteria. See How do I search in a filter?
